PROFILE OF GABRIEL OROZCO BY FRANCES FIGART

Gabriel Orozco is the brand new general manager at Latitude 10 Resort. In fact, he’s been on the job less than a month. But already this dynamic and detail-oriented professional has demonstrated his ability to think on his feet and make a creative contribution to the very special environment that is Latitude 10.

Gabriel was born in San José, Costa Rica, but grew up in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, where he received a bachelors degree in visual arts from the University of Quebec as well as a bachelor of business administration from the International Business School. He also completed a payroll certification.

“I have always been a great traveler, and therefore it is only natural for me to end up in tourism,” said Gabriel, whose career experience includes being an accountant and financial advisor, a Maitre D’ and a bartender. “Meeting people on a daily basis from around the world is without a doubt the highlight of my functions here at Latitude 10.”

Gabriel practices what he refers to as “proactive coaching” to help hotel staff reach their full potential. He is gratified by seeing employees grow and make progress under his direction. “My position requires my full attention from dawn until way past dusk. But what I most enjoy is sharing my knowledge for the best interests of both the company and the employees.”

One of the attractions of working at Latitude 10 for Gabriel is the resort’s focus on being sustainable under the management of Cayuga Sustainable Hospitality. “Cayuga has highly qualified professionals injecting their erudition into six exclusive boutique hotels. They do so in an unconventional manner and with an exceptional human approach,” he said. “Democracy is at the core of their activities and moreover, team spirit and general support is inherent.”

When asked what he feels are the benefits for travelers who come to stay at an eco-resort as opposed to a regular, mainstream accommodation that does not consider sustainability, Gabriel replied: “All ecological efforts are crucial. The benefits are greater than the simple guilt-free behavior through using certain products or being careful with the water usage. I share many values and principles with Cayuga, chief among them promoting education and true sense of unity with nature.”

Gabriel hopes that guests who come in contact with him during their stay at Latitude 10 will remember his openness to their needs and dedication to having them enjoy an outstanding experience. Most of all, he desires that all guests leave looking forward to coming back.

It’s 6am. The Howler monkeys have started their wake up call. The sun slowly makes its way towards the Pacific. It’s a short stroll before the silky white sand softens the walk towards the deep blue. Tides are coming in and along the beach people are getting ready. Ready for that morning swell. First the lotion then the wax! Some are already duck diving their way through the rolling waves of the morning session. There is salt in the air and surfboards lay resting on the sand. It’s the start of a new day. Another day of an endless summer. Another day in Costa Rica. The people may come and go but the waves remain.

Here is the staff of Latitude 10 at the hotel pool right in front of the Santa Teresa Beach. We are proud to be working with a local staff and teach them about hospitality and sustainability. Beach Clean Ups

On Friday, we did our weekly beach cleanup at Santa Teresa Beach. We started at Latitude 10 and worked our way towards Malpais. We invite guests to join us. It is a great way to get to know each other a bit better and guests feel good about giving back to the country they are visiting. If you are interested in participating at a beach cleanup at Latitude 10 or any other Cayuga managed Hotel, send us a message to info@cayugaonline.com. PS: bring sunscreen!

Great Place for Family Reunions

Latitude 10 is the perfect place to rent for a multigenerational family reunion. And much better value than staying at a normal hotel. We can even hire a private chef for you that prepares all of your meals.
